Introducing kids and adults to new stories through fun, live performances of books read by local actors.
Readers Theater is a style of performance that blends the reading aloud of a book with theatrical elements before a live audience. The cast of actors simultaneously narrates the story and brings added life to the characters through voice, expression, and movement. Midcoast Literacy Readers Theater performances are our way of sharing a love of reading and great stories in a unique format with groups of kids and adults.
On Sunday, October 23rd, 2022, Midcoast Literacy presented two Readers Theater Performances for children and families at the Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath.
The featured children's books were:
Miss Nelson Is Missing by Harry Allard
Jabari Jumps by Gaia Cornwall
Grandma Drove the Lobsterboat by Katie Clark
Bone Soup by Cambria Evans
No upcoming Readers Theater performances have been scheduled at this time.
Check back in Summer, 2023, for updated information on Fall performances!
Future performances in the Midcoast Literacy’s Readers Theater series will include both productions of children’s books for families and short story productions for adult audiences. Proceeds from Readers Theater events support Midcoast Literacy’s Read Together tutoring program for kids ages 6-14 in Lincoln, Sagadahoc, and northern Cumberland Counties.
